Twilight Grocery Shopping

Last night I commented to my mother how we needed some items of food for me to properly pack my lunch the next day. She absentmindedly told me to get some money and walk to the grocery store for all of it. "This is totally normal. I help around the house with activities such as grocery shopping too." you may say. The thing is, this was at 9:30 at night. I don't think she was fully awake or else she would have made me wait until tomorrow afternoon but I didn't want to have a lame lunch so I grabbed my sister and we were out the door.

The grocery store is a short 7 minute walk from our house and we amused ourselves by being dressed in our pyjamas and singing along to my sister's ipod.

Please note that she was the one who had the earphones in. I was just singing from what I could get from her singing so I was usually a beat off or didn't know where we were since she was mumbling the melody due to LACK of MEMORIZATION SKILLZ. We were listening to the silly song Bellybutton from VeggieTales and when it got to the part where the caterpillar raps, I completely aced it. We were a sight to behold, skipping through a parking lot rapping about "umbilical equivocals".

Anyways, we got the groceries and went along our merry way, all the while probably getting weird looks from the adults who were also there because since when do two teenage girls go to the store at nighttime to buy healthy stuff like carrots. (Well, we also bought ice cream but that is beside the point.) No one else was talking but that didn't stop us from carrying on our conversation about how non-2012 a Chicken Soup for the Soul book cover looked.

And that was the extent of our close-to-midnight adventure. I think we should do it more often. It was the right time of night that everything was slightly silly and we weren't tired enough to be zombies.

Audition Rant

I need to rant.

So I've been part of my church's worship team for perhaps 5 or 4 years. And it's all been swell. But now, they've decided that we need auditions for anyone to join it and to be fair everyone has to audition if they want to be a part of it, even the people who have been on it the entire time.
This is basically a way to get rid of the people that suck in the roundabout manner that doesn't involve the people in charge just having a simple talk with them.
I am not worried about not getting in, this is not the issue here. I just don't think we need to elite-ize this. To have the people that were good enough and the people that aren't. This is about the worship, not the performance. As long as the message gets through to the congregation, does it really matter if someone messes up sometimes or if the keyboard player is only playing simple chords?
Also, I actually don't have a clue who is going to be cut. Like, everyone who is on the team has musical talent or else they wouldn't feel confident enough to join. This is not like American Idol where you might become famous at the end of it or will get some TV time if you are ridiculous. You are working so that other people might having a pleasant experience and you don't do that unless you feel like you'd be good at it. So there basically is no point to doing this since the end result will be all the same people.
UNLESS some people get so annoyed (kinda like me) with this whole necessary process that they decide it's not worth it to audition and comply with this decision. So, in that case, you end up losing otherwise awesome parts of the team which, in turn, puts more pressure on the remaining people since you need to cover for the loss. And it's not like our team is massive and a half. We have enough to alternate each Sunday so that you get a break every second week. Who knows what it might turn in to.

Anyways, I'll be auditioning, since I actually like singing but I really don't understand this idea at all.

My Emotion is I-Want-To-Punch-You-In-The-Face

Not you specifically, I barely know you. Although that could be remedied if anyone COMMENTED.

Anyway. Completely off topic there.

My friend just lent me her copy that I gave to her for her birthday of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. (No, I totally did not premeditate that by buying her a copy I could forgo the massive line waiting for me if I ordered it from the library.) And I have been reading it whenever I could all of today. Secretly during chem class, all of my spare and while my sister was hogging the computer.

Now let's zone in on when I was reading it during my spare. I was sitting with the very same friend who will be known in this post as The Owner of the Book and a friend from Data class who will be known as The Spoiler. The Owner is raving about the book as I'm reading it, starting and stopping in the middle of her sentences as she tries to convey the awesomeness of the book while not actually telling me any details. The Spoiler knows nothing of the book but steals it from me and reads the blurb in the front jacket flap. (Side note, isn't it cute how they're called jackets? Like the book is getting all dressed up? Or is it just me? Thought so.) He then proceeds to GUESS THE PLOT TWIST and say it out loud. Now, let's just say that my dear, dear Owner of the Book friend would be terrible at poker as she just does not own a poker face. Maybe it got lost in the mail. Maybe she was given faulty information of when and where we were to obtain them. Who knows. But she completely gives it away that that indeed is the plot twist that left her bawling alone on her couch.
That's when I declared my emotion to be I-Want-To-Punch-You-In-The-Face.

I have tried to push what he said to the back of my mind and carry on enjoying the book play by play but it was incredibly annoying to have it spoiled like that.

Sorry for any vagueness about what the actual plot twist is but I felt like this is the kind of thing you should not pay forward so for anyone who hasn't read the book, I won't spoil what it is for you.

I might possibly do a book review for it (without spoilers, calm your muffins) when I'm finished but I'll have you know I kind of suck at reviewing books. But then again, not being able to sing doesn't stop people who can't sing from singing.

Shout out to John Green for being awesome and writing The Fault in Our Stars.
